S32750 Material Properties

2507 is a super duplex stainless steel with better corrosion resistance and strength than 2205. It combines the most beneficial properties of many ferritic and austenitic steels and, due to its high chromium and molybdenum content, has excellent resistance to uniform, pitting and crevice corrosion. The dual-phase structure ensures that the steel has high resistance to stress corrosion cracking and high mechanical strength.

The higher content of chromium and molybdenum makes it have strong resistance to the overall corrosion of organic acids such as formic acid, acetic acid, etc., and also has strong corrosion resistance to inorganic acids, especially those containing chlorides. Compared with 904L, which is specially designed to resist pure sulfuric acid, 2507 has stronger corrosion resistance to diluted sulfuric acid mixed with chloride ions.

316L grade cannot be used in hydrochloric acid environment, it may be subject to local corrosion or overall corrosion, while 2507 can be used in diluted hydrochloric acid environment, with strong anti-spot and anti-crevice corrosion ability. The lower carbon content of 2507 greatly reduces the risk of carbide precipitation in the intergranular during heat treatment and, therefore, it is highly resistant to carbide-related intergranular corrosion.

2507 has high compressive strength, impact strength and low thermal expansion coefficient and high thermal conductivity, these characteristics are suitable for many structural parts and mechanical parts.

2507 should not be placed in a temperature environment higher than 300 ℃ for a long time, which may weaken its toughness.

Corrosion Resistance Of S32750 Material

1. Corrosion resistance
The higher chromium and molybdenum content of SAF 2507 makes it more resistant to bulk corrosion of organic acids such as formic acid and acetic acid. SAF 2507 alloy also has strong resistance to inorganic acids, especially those containing chlorides. corrosion resistance.
Compared with 904L, SAF2507 has stronger corrosion resistance to diluted sulfuric acid mixed with chloride ions. 904L is an alloy in the austenitic state, specially designed to resist pure sulfuric acid corrosion.
316L grade can not be used in hydrochloric acid environment, it may be subject to local corrosion or overall corrosion. SAF2507 can be used in dilute hydrochloric acid environment, with strong anti-spot and anti-crevice corrosion ability.

2. Intergranular corrosion
The lower carbon content of SAF 2507 greatly reduces the risk of intergranular carbide precipitation during heat treatment, therefore, this alloy is highly resistant to carbide-related intergranular corrosion.

3. Stress corrosion cracking
The duplex structure of SAF 2507 makes it highly resistant to stress corrosion cracking. Due to its higher alloy content, the corrosion resistance and strength of SAF 2507 are better than 2205.
Cracks are almost inevitable in construction, etc., which makes stainless steel more susceptible to corrosion in chloride environments. SAF 2507 has a strong ability to resist crack corrosion. The isocorrosion curve of SAF 2507 in sulfuric acid containing 2000ppm chloride ions 0.1 mm/year; isocorrosion curve in hydrochloric acid 0.1 mm/year.
